Born in 1974, Prof. Dr. Kağan KÖKTEN graduated from Çukurova University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops in 1995 after completing his primary and secondary education. He started his master's degree in the same year. In 1998, he won the research assistant exam opened by the Department of Field Crops and was appointed as a research assistant to the same department. In 1998, he completed his master's degree and in 2005 he completed his doctorate education. In 2008, he was appointed as a doctoral lecturer at Bingöl University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops. In 2012, he received the title of Associate Professor and continued his studies in the same department. In 2017, he was appointed as Professor at Bingöl University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops.

Prof. Dr. Kağan KÖKTEN has been involved in a total of 76 scientific-technical projects, 3 of which were supported by TUBITAK, 1 by the International European Community, 47 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and 25 by the Scientific Research Project Units (BAP) of different universities.

Prof. Dr. Kağan KÖKTEN has a total of 261 publications, including 72 articles published in SCI/SCI-Expanded, 61 articles published in international refereed journals and 34 articles published in national refereed journals, 69 papers presented at international scientific meetings and published in the proceedings book, and 25 papers presented at national scientific meetings and published in the proceedings book. He has also authored chapters in 21 international books.

He served as the Vice Dean of Bingöl University Faculty of Agriculture between 2009-2018 and as the Dean of Bingöl University Faculty of Agriculture between 2018-2021. In 2023, he served as the Vice Dean and Head of the Department of Crop Production and Technologies at Sivas Science and Technology University, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. Prof. Dr. Kağan KÖKTEN has a good command of English.
